When you combine outspoken, politically-charged lyrics and an unapologetically punk infused sound, you get a pretty venomous concoction that may just take you by surprise. This is exactly what you get from London’s queer punk witches Dream Nails. Their self-titled debut album shot them to the forefront of the Riot Grrrl scene back in 2020 but they have done anything but slow down since then.
2021 saw tracks like ‘Take Up Space’, ‘They/Them’ and ‘Lonely star’, all mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine Mastering, earn widespread radio praise from Kerrang, Steve Lamacq on BBC Music 6 and a host of BBC Radio one show’s including Jack Saunders’ Future Artists.
Described as “a modern classic” by Radio 1’s Amy Lamé, ‘Lonely Star’ topped off another momentous year for the quartet who are quickly becoming regarded as one of the country’s most musically ferocious and socially activistic artists. Having previously worked with talented Liverpool-based producer Tarek Musa, the band have really begun to hone their distinctive style and perfect the sonic subtleties of their sound.
2022 has seen them focus on their famously raucous live shows. A European tour supporting Rock duo Nova Twins will follow their recent, electrifying set at Glastonbury 2022. It seems that the quartet are quickly winning over each and every person that hears them play. After this huge first half of the year don’t expect them to slow down any time soon!
