Czechian outfit Branko’s Bridge have gained a widespread following over recent years thanks to their unique ability to blend vintage American genres together with seamless finesse. Their debut album‘Hobby Horse Cowboy’ wonderfully combines elements of surf rock, psychedelia, indie-rock and post-punk together, often interlacing hints of these different genres within the same song.
With a strong focus on lyricism, the new album, mixed by Jon Hucks (Hallan, Fearn, Neon Waltz) & mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine Mastering, has been hailed for its “strong human stories” by Full Moon Zine and has been met with widespread praise across the European indie scene. As a result, the band have featured on The Frontman podcast and Radio 1 Prague’s Reflektor programme.
Sonically, the album is incredibly stylised with the sounds balancing the authentic retro tones of their predecessors while still letting their own personality shine through. The richness of the soulful, surf guitar lines adds a lush texture while grittier, more rigid elements produce an angsty modern post-punk energy. The record also captures the acclaimed atmosphere of their live shows which are always hotly anticipated. This summer, the band will be heading on a Czechia tour which includes an appearance at the renowned Festival Kukokli.
